ROCKY MOUNTAINS From Alberta | Canada for the contest #MyUnitedWayVoice #myUWvoice I am a Spanish songwriter who arrived to Canada two months ago. I love to create poetic lyrics and I tend to see my music as an artistic response to the world around me. In Spain, I have been working with my brother as a duo for a long time and now we will continue playing together into the distance. MY EXPERIENCE WITH POVERTY: On my arrival in Edmonton I settled in downtown and I observed that this area was the only shelter in the city for many people without a home. As a newcomer, I felt inspired by the idea of how a society can become a space for empathy. I entitled my song “Rocky Mountains” as a metaphor of a place which harbors richness of life. Lyrics by Emilio Lizcano: You will never again feel the rejection of the people, who never believed in you. You will rest. We will save the empathy needed to live. Once again the mountains will fall down. The water they are breathing flows by itself. It will carve out an inverse way to a perfect place to live. A perfect place to live. A perfect place to live.
